EXTRUSION
Extrusion is the initial phase of ACOMA’s production process. In this operation, the rubber compounds are filtered, eliminating their impurities and preparing them for subsequent processing phases. During this phase, ACOMA dedicates the same meticulous attention that it devoted to the entire process.
CALENDERING
Calendering is the heart of ACOMA’s production process. It is with calendering that ACOMA manufactures all its products for printing and varnishing. Calendering, through the innovative technological process developed by ACOMA, has made it possible to completely eliminate the use of solvents, which instead, are indispensable in the obsolete spreading processes, so that each ACOMA product is 100% solvent-free. Calendering allows the production of rubber for printing blankets and coating plates in a few steps and with incredible energy savings, making the ACOMA process extremely efficient and environmentally friendly, as well as allowing a considerable reduction in processing times and CO2 emissions (reduced by more than 70%) and solvent exhalations (completely absent). This technologically advanced production phase is the proof that ACOMA doesn’t just talk about the environment, but concretely implements strategies aimed at safeguarding it.
CONTINUOUS CURING
Vulcanisation is the crown jewel of ACOMA’s production process. This revolutionary technology gives all the ACOMA products high-quality characteristics, extended from the first to the last metre of each batch, and from batch to batch; all this means an extraordinary consistency of the chemical and physical characteristics of each and every ACOMA product. The extreme stability of this process has allowed ACOMA to reduce the percentage of waste and ensures that the quality of every one of its blankets is excellent. Unlike its competitors, ACOMA does not have to make choices of market quality, every single metre it manufactures is suitable for any customer, in every part of the world, even for the most demanding. Continuous vulcanisation is an extremely efficient process, making it better able to reducing energy consumption compared to traditional vulcanisation processes.
GRINDING
The fourth and last phase of the production process of ACOMA is grinding, composed of two distinct phases: with the first grinding step, the thickness of the material is rendered very precise and uniform; with the second, the surface is given the correct finish with the right value of roughness. Surface roughness is a very important characteristic for the best behaviour of the products, both for printing and for painting.
