SUSTAINABILITY AND BUSINESS THE GREEN CHOICES OF ACOMA
Sustainability and business: ACOMA’s responsible choices
Sustainability and respect for the environment are two fundamental principles on which ACOMA bases its way of doing business, with the aim of growing in a responsible manner.
We think that communicating our commitment, both internally and externally, is important to demonstrate that we believe in sustainability.
This is one of the reasons why we created the ACOMA’s Environmental Policy, which is not merely a declaration of intent, but rather a testimony to how the company has sought to reduce its environmental impact from the beginning. Here are the main choices made by ACOMA, with the awareness that we can and must still improve.
Fight air pollution: reducing CO2
ACOMA has carefully designed its production process and chosen the machinery to be used to limit CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. In this case, innovation and technology have made it possible to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 70%.
More natural products: goodbye to solvents
Also the decision to start 100% solvent-free production was innovative, eliminating the use of solvents and phthalates from the rubber printing process. As a result, our products meet the requirements for food packaging and the environmental impact is reduced.
Careful waste management and waste reduction
Our society produces in large quantities of waste every day, with an impact on the environment and consequently on people’s health. This is why ACOMA has designed its processes to reduce the amount of waste produced and to encourage recycling. In addition, some of the waste is reused, such as plastic film, which is recovered for packaging.
Renewable energy and photovoltaics
Increasing the use of renewable energy is a key measure to reduce CO2 emissions and make industrial activities more sustainable. Solar energy is freely available in nature and does not run out. ACOMA is investing in the construction of a photovoltaic plant, which will be completed and put into operation in the coming months.
Raising awareness among employees
Raising the awareness of employees by encouraging sustainable behaviour is important is as important as everything else. For example we’ve decided to to install a water dispenser in the company, with the aim of reducing plastic consumption.
